Restaurant and banquet table linen

Table linen is the one hospitality category where the quantity and the size can be calculated exactly before anyone discusses fabric. Finished size comes from the tabletop plus twice the drop; quantity comes from covers per service and the turnaround between events. Get those two calculations right and the rest of the specification is straightforward.

Buyer guidance

From table plan to costed order

Finished size is arithmetic, not a catalogue choice

For a round table, finished diameter equals tabletop diameter plus twice the drop. A 180 cm banquet round with a floor-length 75 cm drop needs a 330 cm cloth. For square and rectangular tables, add twice the drop to each dimension. Send the table inventory with diameters or dimensions and the required drop per service style, and the cutting sizes come out directly.

Banquet and à la carte are different products

Banquet linen is floor-length, handled by casual staff and washed in large volumes between events. À la carte linen is shorter, changed per cover and judged close up. The same fabric rarely suits both well: banquet work rewards weight and drape, restaurant service rewards recovery and finish.

Napkins are specified by fold, not just by size

A napkin that folds crisply into a structured shape needs different weight and finishing from one presented flat under cutlery. State the fold used in service, the edge finish — hemmed, mitred or overlocked — and whether the napkin should match or deliberately contrast with the cloth.

Event turnover sets the par level

A venue running consecutive events needs enough linen in circulation to cover the wash cycle between them, plus a reserve for spillage during service. Provide the busiest realistic week rather than the average, because the average week never causes the shortage.

Buyer FAQ

Questions about restaurants & banquets

Can you make floor-length round tablecloths?

Yes, once the table diameter and the required drop are confirmed. Table heights vary, so the floor-length drop should be measured at the venue rather than assumed.

Can colors be matched to a venue scheme?

Yes, subject to color approval, fabric availability and quantity. Provide a physical reference or a recognised color standard, and note that a bespoke shade is limited by dye-lot minimums.

What are the reference MOQs for table linen?

Tablecloths show a regular MOQ of 100 pieces and a minimum of 50; napkins show a regular MOQ of 300 pieces and a minimum of 100.

Can you produce jacquard cloths with a venue motif?

Woven jacquard is reviewed against loom setup, repeat size and quantity. Small repeating motifs are far more economical than large pictorial designs at venue volumes.
